Osher Reentry Scholarship Program 2009-2010
The Osher Reentry Scholarship Program is made possible through generous support from The Bernard Osher Foundation. Scholarships of up to $5,000 annually are available to adult reentry students who have been admitted to, or currently matriculated at, California Polytechnic State University. In order to receive a scholarship, adult students must be between the age of 25 - 50 years old; have experienced a gap in their path to an undergraduate degree, and currently demonstrate financial need. Recipients of Osher Reentry Scholarships must also demonstrate a commitment to the pursuit of their degree and the likelihood of making a contribution to the larger community upon graduation. Osher Reentry Scholarships are awarded on the basis of both merit and financial need.
If awarded a scholarship, the recipient must also:
- Remain in good academic standing throughout the 2009-2010 academic year. Students who do not remain in good academic standing will forfeit their scholarship.
- Remain continuously enrolled for at least eight units during the fall, winter, and spring quarters of the 2009-2010 academic year.
Students applying for an Osher Reentry Scholarship for the 2009-2010 academic year must complete and submit their application and all supporting documents, which include an essay and faculty letters of recommendation, on or before 5:00 pm on Thursday, November 12, 2009 to the Office of the Dean, Continuing Education and University Outreach. The office is located in Building 116, Room 101. It is important to note that scholarship funds are limited and awards are given on a rolling basis. Therefore, early application is strongly recommended. Applicants’ eligibility does not guarantee an award, if all funds for the 2009-2010 year have been awarded.
Students must also complete and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Information on completing the FAFSA is available from the following sources:
