The Adult Degree Program (ADP) offers busy adults the opportunity to earn a Cal Poly Bachelor's Degree while balancing the responsibilities of work, family and community. The program features evening classes and the opportunity to earn credit for prior professional training and learning.
The Interdisciplinary Studies Degree
Through Cal Poly's Adult Degree Program, you will earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (IS), a fully-recognized Cal Poly degree which allows you to study a range of subjects that are intellectually satisfying -- and have practical applications to advance your career.
The IS degree provides students with the skills to examine issues or problems from a variety of perspectives or disciplines. The courses look at problems and resolutions from viewpoints of science, humanities, ethics, and economics.

Meeting Your Professional Goals
In the ADP's Interdisciplinary Studies major, your academic study complements your professional and personal goals. This makes your degree begin paying off even before you graduate. The Interdisciplinary Studies curriculum offers two courses that you can directly tie to your current job:
Advanced Investigation Seminar
An in-depth investigation into an issue of personal or professional interest to you, which you can examine from cultural, environmental, religious, political, or economic view points.
The Capstone Project
A project or report linked to your professional goals. For example: If you report on the effects of pollution on our beaches, this report, could offer transition to a career with an environmental agency.
Credit for Prior College Level Learning
Get college credit for what you already know! In the ADP, you have the option to test out of a class if you feel you already know the subject matter, based on your professional or personal experience. Use your background to get your degree faster by challenging the course and receiving credit for it if you succeed.
